Today I realized something: if being in heaven means being in perfect union with God, then communion is a foretaste of eternal life. After receiving communion, we participate, even if it's for just a couple of minutes, in the glory of the saints. We stop belonging to the militant Church to unite ourselves, for just an instant, with the triumphant Church.

Very awesome!! you should read Theology of the Body. It talks about this, and how communion is the wedding feast and consummation of us giving ourselves to Christ.

Yes, I've read that and it made all the sense in the world, but it was until now that I kind of saw it. It just became clear in my head.
